Our Story

ABOUT

The Men and Women of Central (MWC) is a resident led nonprofit 501(c) (3) organization whose goal is to create a healthy, vibrant Central community! MWC was formed as a grassroots organization by Jerome Baker in 2006.  The organization was created to increase the presence of positive adult role models in the lives of youth living in the Central community in Cleveland, Ohio.

MWC’s primary purpose is to support and guide the youth in becoming productive citizens. MWC mentors and engages with youth in recreation centers, schools, and libraries in the Central neighborhood. Over the years, they have mentored the youth in various capacities, providing free tutoring services, meals, school supplies and fun activities.

MWC is passionate about helping Central residents improve and transform their lives. In addition to providing youth services, they engage with residents to understand their short and long-term needs. They help residents fulfill their needs by hosting community events and connecting them to resources.

The organization values and understands the importance of partnerships and collaboration. MWC builds and leverages relationships with community partners to bring resources into the community. They have long standing relationships with various community leaders and organizations such as, Sisters of Charity Foundation, Central Promise Ambassadors, Northeast Ohio Black Health Coalition, Walter Patton, MyCom, and many more.

The Men & Women of Central organization is transforming the community by educating, engaging and empowering residents!
